Photographed with a Canon 400D in the Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia.
The floral emblem of New South Wales with the botannical name Telopea speciosissima.
This image was captured on the walking track to Hanging Rock in October last year (2009). I’ve never seen so many waratahs in one place.
The ants obviously love them.
Waratahs herald the beginning of spring in the mountains.
Hanging Rock is near Blackheath in the Blue Mountains of Australia (2 hours west of Sydney).
That’s the Hanging Rock at Blackheath in the Blue Mountains National Park that features in many other images in the gallery.
Photographed with a Canon 400D, F6.3, ISO 400, Exposure 1/30 seconds, Shade White Balance.
