This is one of my favourite scenes on the Grand Canyon walk in the Blue Mountains National Park at Blackheath, NSW, Australia.
This was a beautiful warm day to be in the mountains & two small but significant things happened. While I was standing quietly viewing one of these beautiful scenes a tiny finch was hopping around the forest floor & ended up jumping on to my shoe. It gave it a couple of surprisingly powerful pecks (hoping for a mouthful of food) before hopping away.
I’ve never had a bird do that before & I was very impressed.
Also a slug somehow landed on my hat & almost circumnavigated it before I spotted the silver trail & offloaded it onto the forest floor. Cute !
