From the carpark at the end of Ridgewell Rd, Blackheath, this view is accessible after a one hour walk along the Baltzer Lookout track.

This is in the Blue Mountains National Park in New South Wales, Australia.

It was an adventure for me just getting to the point where I took this photo .. slid part of the way down a gravelly slope on my butt to avoid falling. It would have been much easier without all the camera gear. I got a stress headache watching them stroll to the edge & casually look down. It is such an incredible piece of nature though & was well worth the effort to capture it.

    Good word!
That gives me the willies seeing that person up there.
Reminds me of the Roadrunner cartoon when hes out on a creg and it cracks and he falls.

  • Yes, I know what you mean. I just added a comment about getting a headache watching them casually stroll to the edge. Given that you can see daylight between the cliff & the rock I don’t know if I would call them fearless or some other term implying a lack of sense. No sign of the Roadrunner or the Coyote.

I had a picture of Lucas Trihey doing a roped bungee jump off this on my toilet wall for much of my youth, fantastic place, nice shote Michael.

  • Crikeys. Some people seem to have no fear. Thanks for the compliment Travis.

Blimey!!! I’m sweating just sitting here looking at your photo.

  • Yep, I know the feeling. I saw a similar pic on the net just before I went out there & I was feeling nervous looking at it. You can imagine how I felt watching this pair casually stroll to the edge as if it was as wide as a football field. Circus performers perhaps.

Michael, this is so awesome!! Its so amazing the how much this rock looks like the Crag!! What a gorgeous place, sure could play here ll day!!

  • Thank you & thanks for the favouriting. I was just thinking how lucky I was to see this couple walk to the edge that day because I don’t think many people would be game to do the same thing. Must get out there again this spring.

!!!!!!,……geezus Michael, i have that funny feeling in my feet looking at this…..
pooping the britches a near certainty if i was out there!!
    Great shot!!

  • Thanks David. I think my fear of heights is about on par with yours. I could feel my body falling over the edge taking this, the head was pounding & the body was becoming paralytic. This was the first trip. On my 3rd trip I managed to focus more on the beauty of the rock & not on falling & that made it a much more enjoyable experience. Progress !!
