Artist's Description

Tess my little girl passed away on remembrance day 11/11/2007 here in Australia.

The story goes…..i knew her time was becoming full circle as she was 16 years old now and constantly watched by me, because i dreaded the day that i would have to face this situation.

I noticed Tess sitting on the rear decking using the brick wall as a support to keep herself upright and from from falling, i called to her, but deafness had stepped in its about now i realize, her organs are failing, even her sight had deteriorated dramatically in a very small space of time, so i called my wife who works at an aged care nursing home telling her i think we are loosing Tessy,my wife asked me to take her up to see her,as i knew this was for a final good-bye,i carried Tess and entered the dwelling,my wife was just starting to play the ‘’ last post ’’ for the elderly residents.a ritual carried out on this special day to remember those whom had fallen,at the end of the tune,i picked up Tess and she gave a yelp,so i promptly put her down,i nursed her and tried to comfort her and at that very moment i said to her …‘’ its OK to go’’ with that she looked up at me,as if she were asking …are you coming too. i said one day, It was the last time we both made eye contact.
she died straight after the last post was played…..a real trooper.

How fitting and for an old girl to die at the end of the ‘’last post ’’ and in a nursing home.

Tess was cremated and placed within a small beautifully carved box and engraved with name and dates, where she sits now in our lounge room.

I never had a friend in life, like Tess was to me. ‘’ does anyone ’’

Well 9 years have passed now, and on the approach of this day 11TH November of your anniversary Tess, i can vouch for the fact that time does ’’NOT’’ heal. and my promise to you is that your ash’s be planted with me,when my turn comes !!

Missing you, but always in my heart.
