Dights Falls

Dights Falls

Such a place is Dights Falls on the Yarra River at the border of Clifton Hill, Collingwood and Kew. This concrete-capped waterfall is strewn with rubbish. The roar from the Eastern Freeway masks the sound of water. The signs intended to inform tourists have been vandalised.
Dights Falls may not at first impress. Yet this is one of the most powerful places on the river. Here fresh water meets salt, sandstone meets lava, and past meets future.

Dights Falls belongs to the following groups:

  • Michael Rowley... replied

thanks chris , just loved the water itself, so dry here drought is too smaller word, its not good but the walk i did to see this and the heat of 34 degrees was a thrill to finally find it . very refreshing, however i would not dare drink it !!

Thanks for the memories Michael, Nice photo.

Good old Dights Falls my x husband use to kayak from Invanhoe down to Dights falls and I was the sucker who waited for him in the dark in the park on the edge of the Yarra River to pick him up. It is a shame that the river is in such a bad state of affairs. Be lovely if the government actually cleaned up there act and cleaned the river up. Such a beautiful river in places especially up stream above Warbuton.

  • Michael Rowley... replied

thanks iamnirak, i agree what a stunnig place it would be if they did do a clean up….......one day soon hopefully !!

funny that i lived in balwyn then doncaster, 2 area’s not far by car from here, and i only knew of it about 12 months ago, finally got here to take a shot of it. my auntie lives walking distance from it and i have visited her place numerous times over the years, again had no idea it was there.
