Garden steps at the historic Bleak House located in Knoxville,Tn.The Bleak House(also known as The Confederate Memorial Hall)is an antebellum mansion built before the Civil war.The house was a wedding present for Robert Houston Armstrong and wife Louisa Franklin.The Armstrong’s named the house after Charles Dickens” novel of the same name.The house was used as General Longstreet’s headquarters during the seige of Knoville during the Civil War.
The house today is opened for tours and the beautiful landscaped garden is a popular location for weddings.The garden is sectioned by stone walls and pillars with a lovely fountain as it’s centerpiece.The steps seen in this photograph are at the very back of the garden which looks over the Tennessee River.

thank you !!! this actually leads down to the tennessee river.of course, many of these old homes, were built near the rivers as a source of importing goods and travel.mount vernon is a good example as well

they are trying to restore as much as they can.they rely on donations and fund raisers,however,it is a costly undertaking.the interior is just beautiful !!

i added the national register of historic place i.d. number at the bottom of the paragraph.is that what is needed.otherwise i’m not sure
