A wonderful sunset with a beautiful field of sunflowers in the front.

What one reads on wikipedia or in books is that sunflowers turn to always look in the direction of the sun. This is only partially true. Maybe during growth this might be the case but I have never seen a field of fully grown sunflowers which turn their heads to follow the sun. So during sunset it’s possible to have the sun behind the flowers to create such a photo.

Great sunflower shot, I can never manage to get such clean ‘star bursts’ even at small apertures, must be down to the lens I imagine?

  • Hey Justin, it’s the lens. The Canon 16-35mm L II lense is known as the sunstar lense ;-) it produces particularly clean stars. It also helps to remove any filters and to stop down for the shot.
