In Memory of Lennox by Michael Haslam

I am afraid to say that Belfast City Council ignored pleas from the world and and the First Minister to release Lennox to a new country that doesn’t have this barbaric law based on ignorance and Lennox was murdered at 7am on July 11th 2012. Seems the council staff think it’s one big joke. When a Lennox supporter rang the Belfast City council and enquired about Lennox they made noises of sheeps and pigs and laughed.

Lennox is now at Rainbow bridge and I hope meets Indy and they can run together free from the pains of this world.

Please wherever you are campaign in the memory of Lennox and all the other dogs murdered by this ignorant law and end the suffering caused by Breed Specific Leglisation. Thank you to all who signed the petition and shared the information,

You need to post their phone number and email addresses. They deserve the same respect…and removal. If these are elected officials they can be dethroned, if they are appointed then the elected official that put they there can be replaced.
That is the beauty of politics, there is a reckoning.

  • It’s the staff, they have no respect for the public, hopefully the calls are taped and the staff can be disciplined.

Hi Michael, I’ve been following the sad story of Lennox for sometime. The Council had backed itself into a corner, despite the weight of Public opinion asking for clemency for a Dog, that had done no wrong, other than to fit certain dimensions of a Cloth Tape measure. All they needed to do was adopt the DDA legislation in full, as already adopted in the rest of the UK, Lennox would now be back home with the Barnes family. That poor Dog spent 2 years in a tiny Concrete pen on a layer of Sawdust, on Death Row. Run free Lennox, the hurt has gone, free to play with your Friends at the Rainbow Bridge.

  • Dear Mark, the exemption clause was passed between the original trial and the appeal due to pressure from the campaign. Unfortunately the appeal judge too more notice of the council “expert” who despite stating he wasn’t qualified to make comments in a trial in North Wales about a dogs behaviour because he wasn’t a trained behaviourist a few years suddenly was now an expert in pit bull type behaviour. His public statements that Lennox lulled him into a false sense of security and tricked him and also that because Lennox averted his gaze when he made eye contact made him dangerous reveals his total ignorance on dog behaviour. He now is calling for all staffies to be under the DDA act as dangerous dog.

With all the people working to save this dog from something that should never have happened in the first place, it is truly a disappointment of major magnitude that we were not successful in our efforts to right this wrong. This whole case is more suspicious than a smoking gun over a dead body and an in-depth investigation is definitely in order.
