A few years ago I heard on the grapevine that an BBC Wales art director was looking for a Norman Rockwell type artist for a credit sequence for a big prestige series, “That Uncertain Feeling” based on a book by Kingsley Amis, starring Dennis Lawson and Shelia Gish. So I arranged an appointment, the art director thought I was perfect for the job and to sell the idea to the Director he asked me to secretly produce a sample, even arranged a model for the reference. Unfortunately the director wasn’t even interested in seeing the sample ignoring the art director and just wanted the normal text over opening sequence. Probably the most photorealistic painting I’ve ever done but it reminds me of missed opportunities. Gouache and Watercolour on Watercolour Board.
