Rob 1997- 18th March 2011

It is with great sadness I have to announce that Rob passed away last Friday. He had an incurable kidney condition and the kindest thing was to save him from any more suffering. He has been our good friend and next door neighbour for over 13 years and I loved him very much. Peter his owner kindly offered to let me take Rob for a walk with Indy the night before, it was a lovely gesture to allow us a last walk to say goodbye properly. It is so hard to walk past the gate now and not see him everday wanting a cuddle and a tasty, we loved looking after him on the occasional weekends. He was the gentlest dog you could ever hope to meet and the handsomest Collie on the planet. Indy and I are going to miss him very much. I know Rob was a great favourite here on Red Bubble, this is from his last stay with us in January

I am so sad to hear this sad news…I know what it is like to lose a dear pet that has been part of your life and even though he was a neighbour the love was there for all of you…Sad indeed, Shirley

  • It is a terrible loss. He’s been a lifelong pal of Indy and a constant joy for 13 years.

my heart is aching for all of Rob’s family and friends. A beautiful boy who will be greatly missed. Give Indy some extra ear rubs for me… it’s so hard to lose a lifelong pal and friend.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss!
    Such a beautiful Collie!
They touch our hearts in a very special way, and though Rob is free from pain now, he still knows how much you miss him.
    Congratulations on your feature!

I was all set to write something cheery and upbeat along the lines of ‘now there’s a dog who loves to play’ and then I read the story. How very sad. We all know when we take a pet into our lives that the day will come when we have to say goodbye, but that doesn’t make it any easier to bear. And it doesn’t matter that you weren’t his full-time caregiver/playtime pal. He was such a beautiful dog and obviously full of life even as recently as January. I’m so glad he wasn’t left to suffer. RIP Rob.
