It is with great regret that I have to announce the passing of Scamp, Indy’s best pal, Scamp defied medical science for the past few years, he was diagnosed with an enlarged heart a couple of years ago and then congestive heart failure. He was a delight to know and Indy was always glad to see him, their tails wagged and of all the dogs we know Scamp was the one dog Indy that totally relaxed with. They would trot along with a ball, Scamp would drop it, Indy would pick it up and then leave it for Scamp and the walk would continue with mutual respect and understanding.
His tail was legendary, for three years running he won waggiest tail at the local fun dog show, it would have been four but bad traffic prevented Scamp from defending his perfect record much to his owner Shirley’s regret and colourful language when she discovered that he had missed the contest.
He was a wonderful character and I never met anybody who had a bad word to say about him apart from a holidaying Jewish family who were having a picnic on the beach. When it came to food Scamp didn’t mind whether his chicken was Kosher or not. This is Shirley and Don’s favourite photograph of Scamp, when I dropped the print through their letterbox, Scamp took a liking to it and his two teeth impressions are still visible as the photo takes pride of place on their mantlepiece. We will miss him very much.
