Thank you Ginger. I watched this yellowthroat for quite a while flitter in and out of these cattails, all the while never being in the right light or the right place or when the wind was not blowing. Then pretty as you please there it was, just happened to be my moment, and I’ll take it everytime when lucky enough to get it.

Thank you Kenny, what I find so fascinating is that because a songbird weighs so little (mere grams) it can sit atop a cattail reed that also weighs mere grams and it is as stable as if you or I were perched on a steel girder!

I love these tiny birds….. I have flocks of tiny finches that come into my garden sometimes and at first it looks like a massed cloud of leaves all moving around and then you can see its lots and lots of tiny tiny birds all together foraging and hanging out having fun…. its so magic to sit and watch them ..this little bird puts me in mind of those finches…..
