A dull & gloomy morning greeted Donnnny, myself and my eldest daugther for a 5am start at Balls Head Reserve. Persistent drizzle didn’t abate until 6am when I finally got the nerve to pull out the camera. Unlike my learned friend who came prepared with an umbrella.

A ten (10) shot portrait panorama of the Sydney City Skyline. Shot on a Really Right Stuff pano head and nodal slide. Stitched in PT Gui and post processed in PSE9.

Shot from Balls Head Reserve, Waverton New South Wales.

Really Really nice mate! Wish panos looked better here on RB

Do you think it helps much to have the pano head and nodal slide? Stitching software is very good these days!

  • Thanks mate. I know what you mean, at 100% you discern the AMP and Shangra-La signs. RB dosesn’t do pano’s justice.

Agree that today’s software make it easier but you still need to crop if it’s not lined up correctly. I barely needed to crop this at all. I suppose its personal but as I only really got into pano’s recently I wanted to do it correctly. Having the camera setup with the nodal point over the center of the tripod makes the difference if you want to maximise the potential of the shot and not waste pixels.
