Sun Day
Digital Collage ©2009 All Rights Reserved.——
Part of a new series created from the hundreds of photos in my personal collection of family photos dating back to 1960 (long before I was born).
I have debated with myself too long over this piece. As you can tell from most of my art, I normally keep things on the drab side and that suits my taste just fine. However, this piece is more pastel than I can hardly stand and Easter has long since passed.
So, for the sake of moving on, I’ve finally come to the conclusion that pastel is just how it is. Drab just doesn’t cut it here. The light is way to beautiful to diminish.
Sorry to have blinded you.

By reaching outside your own set boundries..who knows what treasures you just have now created for your drab side..
On all sides as an impartial observer.. (well the more I get to know you and your art the less impartial I become) you made a brilliant (opps excuse the term) choice in this work. I love the edit.. the way you edit.. the faceless mass of humans that we are.. and here is the body to body.. mother to daughter, auntie to niece perhaps.. that just says it all.. here we are sister.. xox

I wish I could favorite this comment!
Having insight from observers like you is what makes all the anguish over the little details worthwhile. I love how you see it all so perfectly without explanation. Yes, here WE are!
Thanks for making my day again!!!
Erika .
This is beautiful. So soft and almost warm. I like the texture and the landscape in the background. I love the “light,” I can actually feel the warmth of the sun in this. Lovely image. A favorite for me. :)

it’s quite ok… don’t mind being blinded by such beautiful pastel-ee light… dear m, this series is “beyond oh my gosh so beautiful” – beautiful… inhale the light… inhale the beauty of pastel… inhale your beautiful memories… so so beautiful… : )

A very moving piece…reminds me of childhood days…standing next to my grandmother. The soft color and light make this so appealing…fabulous crop too.

I’m a huge fan of your “drab” work, but with this you’ve still given us that unique cropped style that I love so much & you’ve wrapped it in beautiful warm light! Nothing wrong with that, it’s fantastic!
I feel a warmth & a closeness between these two that I’m not sure I would have felt if you’d used your usual colouring.
This is really beautiful…... embrace the pastels!!!

Amazing textures, beautiful crop. Sometimes you just have to let the work be what it wants, I guess. ( :

Yeah. That’s the conclusion I finally came to. “It” wanted to be pastel.
Thanks for the comment.

These dresses were born pastel-ish, so the choice to keep them that way was perfect…. I love it
