This is an extension on the thought behind the previous work…. I ruminated over the idea that we are only and wholly ours and others perceptions of us… their experience of us is what we actually are to them. There is no real truth to who we are because each person holds a different view of us, we are just a conglomerate of all of these perceptions. It is a thought in progress.
I attempted to distort the image further to create something in tones similar to human. As I look about myself, I see faces in everything… wood grain, telephone charging bays, power outlets… the world is full of disembodied faces… and I think that is part of my humanity and desire to seek out human contact. “http://totallylookslike.files.wordpress.com/200... Happy tomato and a toothbrush holder… I see that I am not the only one!
I wanted my image to give the viewer a desire to seek meaning in the portrait, by hinting at human shape and colour. In the act of seeking meaning, find the journey itself fulfilling, without the gratification of finding any other meaning except their own… their perception shapes the meaning of the image.
So forget what you have read and come up with your own idea on what it is ;)
