It was a sad morning I discovered one of the large trees in my local park that was felled during a recent storm. I played there as a child with this tree standing over me, providing a place to hide during hide-and-seek, shade and a place to picnic. 10 years later I sat on the bench nearby to smooch my high school boyfriend. 26 years later I sat there and allowed the sound of the fountain in the pond to soothe my exhausted spirit as I battled cancer. Last week I briskly walked the path by that tree, enjoying the peace as I exercised. In memoriam for a beautiful, majestic tree that lost its roots, but will always be part of mine.
