Lovely work Marsha and such a wonderful reminder of Spring on the way. Your Lilac is especially delightful.

  • Thanks, Diane…yep, it’s on it’s way & none too soon!!! I had never tried oil pastels on top of watercolor before, but I like the way it looks.

Oh, what a beautiful touch of spring!
    And, is that a cardinal?

  • Thanks, Donna. I invented this bird so maybe it’s a “red marshattie shortbillis” LOL! I was just wanting something to contrast with the background.

Beautiful Marsha, looks like you guys have already started the spring cleanup and grooming around the yard. I’ve been kinda dragging my feet. Guess I better get started.

  • We’ve had a few nice days so I did get the chance to clean out the flower beds. However, none of our plants are blooming yet like you see here…this was painted from a photo reference from last year, but it’ll look like this soon, I hope. Spring can come none too soon!!! Thanks, Jim.

what a lovely corner of your garden Marsha…lovely painting…we have a bird bath just like this :)

  • Thank you so much, Linda… much appreciated. We acquired this birdbath several years ago when it was left behind at a house we purchased. Would you have any idea how old it might be since you have one like it? We purchased the house about 30 years or so ago from a lady who was in her 80’s & it (the birdbath) looked as if she’d already had it for several years.

Great spot to see the birds and butterflies on the bush Marsha. We are having some lovely spring weather and all sorts of things waking up in the garden.

  • Yes, I think Spring has sprung….we’re cautiously optimistic as we’ve been know to have very late snow storms around here….not often, but not impossible.

Such a delightful subject and painting, Marsha. I like the combination of watercolour and pastel. It works beautifully.

  • Thank you very much, Bev. I’m glad I tried the oil pastels as I wouldn’t have been able to pull it off had it been entirely watercolor.

ours is slightly different Marsha, and newer…so I am not sure how old yours is ! Wow now you have me wondering how old it is….it is full of character indeed!

  • Maybe I can “Google” it & find out something about it. :)
