A House That Was My Home

Once, I used to live here,
this used to be my home,
now it’s cold and uninviting,
sterilised and chrome.
I don’t know what to do here,
this silence scares me so,
I miss the sound of engines,
and the clicking of ghekos.
Now all I hear are crickets,
my heart pounding in my ears,
lying here on silk sheets,
my eyes are forming tears.
Unworthy of companionship,
I lie here all alone,
sleeping in the guest room,
of a house that was my home.
