Known as “Roses of Sharon”, this rose is stationed everywhere in New York City in a variety of beautiful colors. I found the angle against the beautiful blue sky very interesting and loved the delicacy of the petals and found them to me almost feminine. It was important to me for the background the be very simple so the focus would really be on the flower itself, as well as the leaves. This piece was created using a combination of Rembrandt pastel sticks and CarbOthello pastel pencils, I used very vivid colors against a sky blue background.
