Quairading, Central Wheatbelt, Western Australia

Foundation Day Long Weekend, June 2010

Now that most of the seeding has been done, the wait is on for some decent winter rain, which is a bit hit-and-miss at the best of times……

Born in Victoria, now living in the outback of Western Australia, I love nature, music, and photography. I’m passionate about our environment, sustainability, and documenting the impact we’ve had on the planet.

I shoot both digital and film, and have a quirky collection of toy and vintage cameras that are a lot of fun to experiment with.

Wow! I echo rory’s comment!! Now I don’t think it would be possible for me to make an image of this callibre…and this is my landscape every day!

  • Aww Lou, I am so very grateful for the beautiful things you say – as I said to Rory, I’m just blown away! And as if you couldn’t take a photo like this! I have been fascinated with this old telegraph pole for a few years now – the amount of times we drive past it on the way back to Kal, and I always say to myself I’m going to stop one day and take a photo…….well, I eventually got around to it! I think the clouds helped a lot!

Oh this is wonderful the depth of the landscape and the clouds love the leaning telegraph pole. Im happy to send you rain as have even more today and its meant to be our summer. : )

  • Aww thank you for your rainy wishes Karen! It is such a fickle thing over here, this rain business! Having said that, we just got 5mm overnight (here in Kalgoorlie, not the wheatbelt where my in-laws live) – good for the garden, eh? Thanks again for your kind words Karen :)

    such a sky! well done

  • Naia, that is very kind of you – we were visiting my partner’s parents in Quairading, so hopefully they have had some rain since then. Here in Kalgoorlie we just had 5mm overnight – always worth celebrating if you ask me! Thanks again!

Congrats on feature…such a powerful image, love the black & white, makes it so much more dramtic than a color image.

  • Thanks Paula! I’m really grateful for the feedback – I agree, black and white does bring out the drama a lot more :)
