I live around the corner from Luna Park here in Melbourne, so I am always driving or walking past from day to day.
It seems so incongruous that from behind buildings and flats, amusement rides such as “Coney Tower” peak up in to the sky.
It’s fantasy meets reality – literally.
The seats on this ride climb up and down at fluctuating speeds, carrying with them the eagerness of youthful exuberance and adult trepidation.
When will it drop?
Should the rider be exhilarated or full of trepidation or both?
For me the little girls face staring straight at the camera says it all.
Could the process of daring to dream be better represented than by the Coney Tower ride?
I’m not sure it could.
Not for me anyway.
Shot by Nikon D3.
Manipulated in my play pen that is photoshop.
I hope you enjoy the moment.
Because ultimately moments make up the patchwork of your life.

G’day all, my name is Melinda but my mates call me Mel, so feel free. I live by the beach in Elwood, Victoria, Australia. I contribute to a few charities as a Photojournalist, namely HEAL Africa in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Any of my Africa stuff’s profits go to them. So far the sales have bought 7 operations and heaps more so thanks for everyone’s support. I also take a mean beach shot (well try to).

Awesome work Mel, what I like is that brief snippet into someone’s life that neither her nor you may never cross again
Yeah it really hit me like that JC. I’m sure I won’t see this little girl again. Until of course I’m a rich & famous artist and she claims royalties :)
