This little guy was living in the grounds of HEAL Africa Hospital, Goma, Congo. His spirit is great. He pretty much adopted us for the week.
HEAL Africa Hospital lives and works at the coal face of the eastern Congo crisis – Goma. You may have seen it in the news, for the brief moment it curried favour with the news editors.
G’day all, my name is Melinda but my mates call me Mel, so feel free. I live by the beach in Elwood, Victoria, Australia. I contribute to a few charities as a Photojournalist, namely HEAL Africa in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Any of my Africa stuff’s profits go to them. So far the sales have bought 7 operations and heaps more so thanks for everyone’s support. I also take a mean beach shot (well try to).

Melinda, I agree that this little guy looks better in color. The image is great either way, but the red just pops and really brings more dynamite to the photo.

Fantastic pose on this one!! One of the most lasting memories from my all to brief trip to Africa was the children. Such poverty and yet such an ability for happiness. Truly beautiful.
