'The transaction' Northern Rwanda by

This shot is one of my favourites because it tells such a story. In the forground is a wallet being held by one of my colleagues Bart. He is buying the basket being held by the Rwandan woman in the middle of the shot. All eyes are on the transaction. This represents life and death in Africa as much as any other portrait. It is positive, but you can also feel the tension, the need, the hope. All proceeds to charity. I might even buy this myself.

G’day all, my name is Melinda but my mates call me Mel, so feel free. I live by the beach in Elwood, Victoria, Australia. I contribute to a few charities as a Photojournalist, namely HEAL Africa in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Any of my Africa stuff’s profits go to them. So far the sales have bought 7 operations and heaps more so thanks for everyone’s support. I also take a mean beach shot (well try to).

Great humanitarian reportage image. Before I read the text, I thought someone was checking this woman’s papers.

This IS a beautiful image Melinda. I just love images that capture human interaction! And this has done it so well. The expressions and looks tell the story so well.

Go bombers – but I think they may have a bit much ground to make up to get in the 8,
