You want honesty? You want real? You want ‘straight up?’
Go to a place where there’s no pretention. Where there’s no walls. Where there’s only windows.
Go to a place where even amongst the have-nots there are some who have-not as much as others.
Go there right now in your mind and tell me you’re not affected by what you see.
Then spare a thought for those who have not much more than the desire to dream. And cherish your ability to do so. x

G’day all, my name is Melinda but my mates call me Mel, so feel free. I live by the beach in Elwood, Victoria, Australia. I contribute to a few charities as a Photojournalist, namely HEAL Africa in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Any of my Africa stuff’s profits go to them. So far the sales have bought 7 operations and heaps more so thanks for everyone’s support. I also take a mean beach shot (well try to).

Melinda another emotional moment captured, at first I thought I’d rather the heads not be in the shot, but they help make the shot as they provide the isolation for the child.

Hi Craig. Thanks. Yep that was the thinking. I wanted to show that even in the poorest areas some still have greater access than others.

Another powerful image Melinda – I love images that make you think and think hard and you achieve this all the time.

great image and sentiment melinda. it is so easy to forget that this kind of lifestyle exists when u lead a fortunate existence. superficial values look like a farce in the presence of an image such as this.
