Australian Digital Photography Awards-the results are out!!

Well the results of the Australian Digital Photography Awards are out and I’m delighted to announce at least 4 bubblers have been accepted.
Darren Stones with 3 acceptances. On ya Daz!!! Peter Hammer got 5 accepted and I got….1!! (I’m sure that would have read better if I’d written that in a different order :)
Oh and hot of the press Sue Whickam received two (Did I mention I got …..one!)
My apologies if I haven’t mentioned you, please feel free to add to this bloggy journally thingy.
The people I mention here are also part of the wonderful P4P site.
My finalist/acceptance is this one
The two awards in each category (I think there were over 1200 entries) went to two very experienced photographers (if letters after names mean anything!). Congrats to them.
In the meantime, we RB/P4P’s will carry on taking over the world…or something!

Even hotter of the press the ever delightful samantaha has scored herself 2 entries.

Did I mention my…..1…...

Craig I’m not sure if it was in the forums or not. I got on to it through the Australian Photographic Society. But I can’t sing the praises of passion for pixels enough. If you want to know anything go there (as well as here!)

Thanks Melinda – I’ve booked marked the site but I’m not sure my little head has room for another site right now. It often feels like it’s going to explode anyways.

Well done to the four of you, that’s fantastic news! :D

  • Peter Hammer

Well done Melinda. For those interested here are some statistics I extracted from the results and taken from the P4P website:

OK I have extracted the scores into a database but they are all lumped together (ie Altered reality and open in one list). There were a total of 1384 (unless I got a few wrong with the conversion) entries. 31 had scores of 70 or higher, 241 had scores between 60 and 69, and 595 had scores equal to or above 55. For those interested 50 had scores of 68 and above and 8 had scores of 74 and above which puts Melinda in the top 4 assuming that equal numbers in both sections. Extremely well done Melinda!

Thanks Peter. Are just the one but what a one! Hee hee. If I get drunk and push the top three off the podium is that uncool??

  • Darren Stones

    Hi Melinda. Thank you.

Congratulations on your deserved success with a powerful image. The accompanying story behind it puts things in perspective and thanks for sharing it with us.

PassionForPixels members have achieved excellent results in the competition, and to all who particpated – congratulations.

PassionForPixels members are an active and highly talented group of photographers who have embraced the RedBubble concept. The association that has developed is good for both parties.

For those who are keen to seek critique on their work, and learn a great deal more about photography, I highly recommend PassionForPixels.com to you.

Big congrats to everyone and a very “well done” for your 74 Melinda! Very well deserved – it is a very powerful, emotive image.

I wasn’t sure if my pics had even gone in as I had trouble uploading them at about 11.50pm on the closing day so was really excited just to see they were there let alone getting a couple of acceptances.

    Cheers all!

    Hi Melinda,
    Congratulations from me too.
I’m a Red Bubbler under the name of Snippet. My “Tsydney Tsunami” photo posted here won 1st place in the Creative section of ADPA, which I’ve been told had over 800 entries, so I’m stoked. All 4 of my Creative entries were accepted.

So that makes 5 Bubblers accepted! I’m also a P4Per too. In the end we tend to gravitate to the same communities, don’t we? I came across to Red Bubble as a result of the comments I read in P4P.
