Melinda Kerr

If this doesn't make the feature page I'll leave...

Wow, them’s fighting words…
Let me explain first.

Today I was sitting at my desk trying to stay awake when a bubblemail arrived from John Robb

Now this is a man you don’t mess with. Looking somewhat like a cross between the terminator and a communist dictator in his avatar, John commands presence. When he says click, you jump. Or jump, you click, or click click…oh you know what I mean.

So I jumped and clicked and then thought…actually it would be alot easier just to open the bubblemail…

It read…

Mel, Could you do me a favour? Could you mark this up with a 999.99% markup? Thanks in advance. JR

(This being this )

So I jumped and clicked again.

After apologising for landing on Jess the slumbering border collie…

I did as I was told. (Oh I do hope my parents read this….)

I said I DID AS I WAS TOLD MUM AND DAD (Told you they’d be happy…)

And then I sat back and waited for the practical joke to start.

Ok…I thought, it’s not as if I haven’t taken the piss before…

Hee hee

(Sometimes even I can’t believe what an idiot I am…)

But nuthin’...

Hmm I thought, best I act cool and calm like it doesn’t matter to me but NO I cracked and sent him another email…

Ah…er…JR…not that I care but …er what’s up?

To which I received back…

I’ll let you know….hang on a min

Sly devil…

I lasted one more minute (well 58 seconds…but we round up in these parts…)

Hey JR – you gonna tell me what’s going on…or shall I just sit here with a mounted print for sale for the bonanza price of $14,27.50. Do you think I could charge more for signed?

Tick, tock, tick, tock…

Then finally this…

John Robb bought some of your work recently and left you a note:Regarding Did I also mention Rwanda is beautiful?: Go forth and do good things Casper :-)

(I was called Casper in Africa. Something to do with being very, very fair. And a remarkable ability to walk through walls. After a beer or two).

John – the communist terminator – had bought a card for $33.

Because of course as we all know by now, it goes to charity (HEAL Africa).

Ok, so what’s the trick…tick, tock…ooh goodness…

So I send him…

What the? What’s going on?

And this is what I get in return…

Mel,Here’s what’s going on. You just sold a card – probably the most expensive card in bubble history but still less than the price of a classy cinema ticket or 1/3 of a tank of petrol or…….In the end it’s just a simple little card that I can put on my desk to remind myself that doing good is a good thing.
You will now be able to send some more money to areas and people in this world that need it the most. rgds JohnR

Are you as speechless as me? (Believe me that takes some doing).

Do you know what he’s done? In a land where people live on less than $1 a day, he’s given $33 for one card.

There’s a compassion competition on at the moment run by RB.

Writing, photos, art, design.

I wonder if you can enter bubblemails.

What you’ve done is awesome John.

It matters and it makes a difference.

I won’t really leave RB if you don’t feature this thread.

But I’d do a massive click and jump if you did.

STOP PRESS!!!!! NOW TIM HAS DONE THE SAME THING….

HE’S NOT JUST A HANDSOME MAN ON A TATTERED LOUNGE CHAIR…(I DID GET THAT THE RIGHT WAY AROUND DIDN’T I???) FORGET FEATURED…LET’S GO FOR HOME PAGE!!!!
