There is a strong sense of Magritte in his work, faces hidden protecting themselves. Also the surreal and isolation. Like the apple in Magrittes work not only blocks the world from viewing Magritte, but the apple also blocks Magritte from seeing the world. Patrick uses unusual items to achieve the same results. Art scholars attach Magritte’s need to cover faces to his discovery of his mother in the bathtub with a washcloth over her face. She had committed suicide. I do hope this is not Patricks motivation. Thanks for bringing his work to our attention Mel.
