2.20! 2.20! Blimey Mel – I bet it seems like an age for those cafes to open up at 7!
Well worth it tho IMHO, and at least your morning starts are getting later by the week (whereas mine are getting earlier :( ). I love the red glow of light reflected in the water and most especially the bit in the gap between the peaks. Water movement superb as ever and I love the details you get in the rocks whilst keeping a perfect sky – Magnificently done

Mel, shooting that railroad track at a normal time of day must have been like taking a vacation… but now you`re back to vampire hours and views from planet Brackstone. This is beautiful work and I`m actually gald you`re back off the rails!!

Mel Brackstone in reply to billyboy’s comment, 4 months ago
You’ve got that right Bill, I’m not used to such harsh light! We usually pack up the gear by 7am….I think the railroad was shot around 11am! YIKES.
Mel Brackstone in reply to Paul Tupman’s comment, 4 months ago
Thanks Paul, I had to lodge myself precariously on the edge of another large rock to get into position to capture that light, glad you noticed :)
Mel Brackstone in reply to Stuart Chapman’s comment, 4 months ago
We actually don’t notice, Stuart, I woke at 2.20, left the house around 2.50, drove to Nicks, picked him up, drove to Garry’s, picked him up, and then drove to the beach, arriving around 5am….then we had a million stairs and a slippery rocky pathway to negotiate in the dark to get to this little beach. Sunrise was around 6ish…the things we do, huh?
Stuart Chapman, 4 months ago
I appreciate the learning curve you can climb by having buddies with you (plus safety in numbers for negotiating slippery rocks) but i’m suddenly feeling better that i’d need to get up at 4.20 for a 6.00 sunup. But it is well worth it Mel!
Mel Brackstone, 4 months ago
Lol….i wish I could sleep in till 4.20, but this particular beach is a 2 hour drive, and a twenty minute walk….or in my case, stumble…..but yes, it was worth it, and I’m looking forward to going here again. Tides have to be right for this beach….

Gorgeous shot. The monolithic rocks in that dark sea lead right to the beautiful soft colors of the sunrise. What a sky you were blessed with! I guess there are SOME reasons to get up at the crack of dawn (yawn…maybe if I lived in Australia)
