The rogue wave
This has all the things wrong with it…lens flare being the major problem, but it illustrates why I ended up so so wet….they sneak up when you’re looking through the viewfinder. scream up the beach at a hundred miles an hour and slap you across the back…..
You can also see the way the sky changed….Dicky dawn was shot before the sun came up, and those dark clouds were behind us….they moved over quite quickly as the sun rose.

Indeed the flare to the bottom right stands out like , well it stands out… however the top right seems to fit in place. I guess photoshop that one out and this piece could be flawless… love the way you do these, they are fantastic!!!
Mel Brackstone in reply to John Robb’s comment, 3 months ago
I did take a change of clothes, luckily :D
Stuart Chapman, 3 months ago
They are sneaky little waves aren’t they? I’m sure they know when you’re looking through the viewfinder. But as you know Mel, it is well worth it when you’re back home in the warm and dry and you’ve got a shot like this in the bag. Just gorgeous water movement and spray around the remains. Awesome threatening looking clouds too.

I think that the lens flare actually ADDS to this image Mel. As always your shots astound me.
Ever think of shooting in IR? May prove interesting with that stupidly expensive camera you have :D
Mel Brackstone in reply to Alan Rodmell’s comment, 3 months ago
Thanks Alan, I have a dedicated IR camera, but keep getting swept away with the results from my stupidly expensive camera, so the IR cam stays in my bag more often than not.
