Brilliant ! The eye doesnt cares too much about about a sloping foreground but the camera nearly always does. But not in this image. Just all comes together so well !

what I love about this image Mel – is the way each element interlocks with eachother to create distance… from the foreground diagonal to each component after that. This is one of your extreme best, tonal values are enormous – BRILLIANT PIECE OF WORK! In awe of this!

Stefan, my companions from this tour all took the hike up to the glacier, but I stayed below to take photos. They hiked, and took very few shots. I think I got the best part of the deal, being able to stay here and enjoy the views without worrying about tripping and falling on the loose schist :D

(Oops, i’m late on this one!)

This is an instant wow! I’m still trying to establish what really grabs my attention first. I keep wanting to say the sky with those marvellous clouds patterned across the sky, but then they lead you down to those beautiful snow capped mountains standing so prominent and strong in that gorgeous glow of light.

Then we have the rocky road itself, full of textures, splashes of light tripping off the individual rocks and finally the rocks in the foreground nestled peacefully in the grass.

I’m still undecided, and constantly change my mind, but I do know when you put the 4 parts together it is that instant wow!

You have achieved an almost impossible task by shooting the NZ mountains in an original way so they look utterly fantasatic without looking like a scene from Lord of the Rings, or Narnia… Really fabulous! (Nothing against Lord of the Rings of course !!!)
