For the students who are keen to shoot water drops, you know who you are Tanya :)

I played with water yesterday, and think I have a plan….(anyone who knows me will be rolling on the floor laughing by now)

Here’s the way I did it. Fill the sink with water, put the red background up, slung across the washing liquid and other cleaning products, set up the flash on the sink, facing the red material, set flash on 1/16 power, plug in the pocket wizards to camera and flash, put camera on manual, f/8, 1/200, start the tap dripping, manual focus on the drop spot, and begin firing….cross process in photoshop.

Mel… you know I love ya, but this morning I love ya just a little bit more. I spent the weekend giving myself brain strain and back pain working with water drops – in a slightly different format – and this sort of stuff is what I wanted to work towards next but I didn’t have the faintest idea of where to start. Your description has given me something to work with.

    Thankyou!

    Welcome, bella babe!

The only good thing about them is …......you can take as many shots as you’re willing to take…....unlike a bird or dragonfly….they leave and your chance is gone but yeah it is quite frustrating….........so many times I thought I got A great one and then loaded it up and saw only a bunch of crap soooo disappointing LOL

  • Mel Brackstone replied

So true, I have a limited attention span, so only spent an hour, at most….and a lot of that time was spent in getting the drops to fall at a decent rate….hopefully I’ll have that sorted when Tanya brings the IV bags ;)

  • funkyfacestudio

    funkyfacestudio

Never add ? marks when replying to me unless you are prepared to see a lot of purple :) yes you did type it out load. I make that mistake every time I hit the add comment/send button and it seems that I will never learn my lesson LOL
I’m looking forward to more splashes and you could also give me links to students that are having fun with it too….........I would love to see their take on splashes Mel :) xxoo

  • Mel Brackstone replied

Ok, lesson learnt. I’ll pass on the students images if they upload any. So far only 3 of this class are members here, Dylan, Steve and Richard
