On the cross 2
Cross processed dicky – ver 2…..
Just trying to prepare some images for competitions….what does everyone think of this colouring, too much?
Canon 5D, 16-35mm at 21mm, f/16, 1.3”
- Another from the SS Dicky Series

And here’s the image in black and white! I used this to add the contrast by adding it as a layer and changing the blending mode to luminosity, then dropping the opacity to 50something%

This is perfect! You are an awesome artist – good luck in the comp/s!!
Mel Brackstone replied
Thanks!
John Conway
somewhere between 1 and 2, closer to 2 than 1, if that makes sense
Mel Brackstone replied
Thanks Johno!

I prefer this one, Mel, it has more life, more energy in it, the colours are richer, too. The shadows and the dark remains of the shipwreck are a great contrast to the rest. Beautifuylly shot and worked.
Mel Brackstone replied
Thanks so much jannie!
Elizaday
Oh wow, now this is heaven on a stick! Well done mate :)
Mel Brackstone replied
Thanks Mel :)
Tracey Mac
This one is sharper, especially in the shadows, I prefer this one :)
Mel Brackstone replied
More contrast makes it look sharper, for sure, thanks Tracey :)
William Hallatt
I also prefer the high contrast in this version to that of version 1. :)
Mel Brackstone replied
Thanks so much William!
Vikram Franklin
Wow – so it could become better!! I wouldn’t have believed it if I hadn’t seen it.
Mel Brackstone replied
LOL….thanks Vikram!
maileilani

Mel Brackstone replied
Thank you maileilani!
Greg Carrick
wonderful
Mel Brackstone replied
Cheers Greg!

Definitely this one for me Mel, it’s nice and crunchy and seems to suit a crisp morning, Also the shadows seem to project much better. When you have both open and jump between them the other one seems a bit dull and lifeless. Mind you when I saw the other one on its own it looked pretty impressive too :-)
Mel Brackstone replied
yeah, that’s the best way to compare, love tabs :))) Thanks Matt
midzing
stunning shot Mel,,,, well done
Mel Brackstone replied
Thanks Wendy!
Rosie Appleton

Shoaib .
awesome shot
Stefan Trenker
excellent shot – i like the long exposure on the water and great cloud-scene!
ElRobbo
I think the BW enhances the subtle shadows of the ships ribbing, which I think really makes this image special!
If you could somehow reduce the highlights of the sun and coax out some more detail from the clouds then the BW would be superb!
Anthony Mancuso
fantastic tones Mel, beautiful image
Silvia Ganora
Looks great! Just beautiful!
PhotogeniquE IPA
this is better – stronger light and shadow
lightsmith
They all look great. Am I easily pleased? I like the BW best but I guess I’m a drama queen. king. prince. well…. a drama something…..
Mark Mitrofaniuk
Looks Much better, shadows are darker.
I really like the B&W version.
RichardIsik
I think B&W version looks better, Mel

Simply divine!! Colors, lighting and composition totally outstanding :-)
Delany Dean
I think this is fabulous, and a huge winner. Caveat being that my own preference tends to be on the side of more intensity in color, rather than less.
