Simon Mears
wow, are these really tank traps? from WWII.?
Mel Brackstone replied
They are indeed tank traps Simon, which had been put down along the entire 26km length of Stockton bight, to protect Williamtown airbase during World War II. These were the only ones still visible in Oct 2004, but they’ve now been lost to the sand blow. Perhaps a couple of good storms will unearth some of them again one day.
