Great composition Mel. A few questions if I may.

    1. Any thoughts about stopping it down to say f22 and lengthening the exposure? I’m trying to do this in the right overcast conditions to get some cloud streak effect (oh to be in England for this!)

    2. How are you finding the 16-35mm on the 5D Mark II? I borrowed one for a few minutes and got signifcant barrel distortion below 20mm, but I really really want to go wider.

    3, What’s the aging effect you’ve applied?

  • Mel Brackstone replied

    Thanks Peter.
I didn’t bother stopping down more because the clouds were not moving, but yes, I like to capture the streak when I can.
Love the 16-35mm, and usually take the line of filter/distort/lens correction at 4 or 5 towards the pincushion end to remove the barrel distortion.
I added a texture layer, and a curves layer to add the aging process, both change the colour cast.

    Superb image, Mel!

Suggestion: crop out 1 cm from up and left and 1/2 cm from down – I think is nothing important there and it will become much more dramatic.
