Misty Morn
Shot this back in November, 2004, when the grass was much greener, and there was water in the dam. There’s only been water in that dam one other time since then, and it lasted around 6 weeks….this is a nice reminder of what we used to have….
Sold this a number of times pre-redbubble, mostly A3 size, and it won me a $1500 prize from the Brisbane City Council, as well the John Herbert medal at APSCON 2005, and also a number of other smaller prizes. This was sold december 2008 on redbubble as a matted print.

Benjamin Liew
beautiful picture… Find Wallaby, ducks crossing and ITS A BIRD, ITS A PLANE… IT’S… a bird… hehe.
well captured especially with the animals in it. beautiful warm feeling for the first day of winter :)
Mel Brackstone
Thanks so much Hans, Haydn and Benjamin. I was aiming for the white bird, didn’t even see the ducks or wallaby until I got home and put it up on the screen. First time I’ve seen a white bird at the dam, both before this, and after…

sigh Such beautiful light, breath taking scene. I’m so glad you have this reminder, and I hope you see it this way again very soon.
Mel Brackstone
Thanks so much IR, I hope to see it again soon too! Unfortunately the kangaroos decided to breed madly with the last little bit of rain we had in Nov 2006, and all of a sudden there are thousands of them! Nothing green stands a chance :(

Arletta
Okay, this is like one of those “find all the” grade school piccies, then, is it? I see two kinds of animal, so, where is the third?
I shan’t tell which two, though, or where, in case someone else wants to play.
Anyway, this is lovely! This is the sort of shot that honors the capturer, the capturies, and all the looky-loos that come by to see it later.
Arletta
ahem Never mind! I spotted the third, once I looked at the larger view!
berndt2
Ducks, a cockatoo and a kangaroo/wallaby all in the same idyllic scene : you couldn’t even have painted it better!
