this is like our local garage…. haven’t had fuel for about 4 months! Glad we drive a car with gas is all I can say! Oh and cool shot Mel.

Lindsay Oram
nice work. Is this HDR?
Mel Brackstone replied
It’s a very soft hdr, single file, done on a duplicate layer and blended back in.

Actually, I see this as a sign that we have overcome our need for gas guzzling internal-combustion vehicles and have gone clean and green!!
Joanne Bradley
Great question matched with a brilliant visual! Wouldn’t it be nice if all gas pumps looked old and abandoned and we relied on other methods???? I really like the subtle coloring, it adds to the vintage feel of your composition!
Megan Martin
WOW Super stunning shot Mel! someday this will probably be true when we deplete all our resources and use up all the oil and are forced to come up with alternatives…I hope we find some alternatives before we run out of oil though! =) Great comment on today’s situation! =)
richiedean
what do the boffins say ? 2 years and the oil is gone. The government here are offering £5,000 payback, if you buy an electric car in 2 years time and they’re going balls out to build several new nuclear powerplants to cope with demand …..... times, they are a changin …........... :))
Beth Wilson
Fabulous processing Mel and good social commentary too. Great shot.
Lance Leopold

It wont be long before these will be replaced by an extension lead disappearing off into the owners home that we plug our cars into to get a bit of extra charge on our electrified road trips… I’ll miss the smell of fuel in the morning…
Fantastic shot Mel, and image that will one day be a classic ico of days gone by! Brilliant processing as always.
Oh and sorry for not being around much lately…
rjcolby
They are getting farther apart. We do need to go farther on a tank just to get to the next one… Catch them while you can, as even they will disappear from the landscape.
Kiah Rodman
i love this shot :D
well done!

This looks so desolate Mel, you really create great images from the urban landscape.
Patricia Montg...
A great image! Powerful message, too…

Great – there’s something sentinel-like and bleak about those guys… like robots guarding a dead planet. I grew up on the east cape by the way … not far from napier.
