Karin Taylor

excellent work mel :)
Juilee Pryor
nice work Mel… love those textures you use…. some of my old negatives are so shithouse that they look just like this but with any textures added…you have to laugh we all want what we don’t have…. you want grunge and I want clean crisp shots….oh well
Mel Brackstone replied
I never think the original has enough drama or punch, but thanks Juilee

Denzil
The original IS striking, but your work has added so much more to the image – now it really speaks to the viewer :)

This is a scary image Mel Extremely well done
Karen Cook
Oh, I’m torn between the two different versions… When I saw the textured one I thought WOW!! – but then I saw the original and I think I actually like that one better :o)
Juilee Pryor
I actually am more drawn to the original like Karen…. it’s crisper somehow and stronger…. there is real power in the front hand and that is where the eye falls first….the texture seem to soften that and flattens the drama out…but which ever it’s a great shot….
Mel Brackstone replied
I don’t think I’ve ever been totally drawn to clean crisp shots, even right at the beginning I was buying lenses to distort and mess with the work….I shot this at f/1.4 to mess with the DOF….I just can’t bear reality, I guess…LOL
Anthony Mancuso

the original is way better, the processed top one works well. But out of the two the original is simpler and cleaner, sometimes less is more

Very cool image. Great treatment. I do like this version rather than the original.

I like to see the artists creative input to an image, making it personally theirs, rather than relying on mechanical perfection ….. I’m with you Mel, I hate to leave an image untouched, my imagination has to make its way in ….....
Your improved version looks like a zombie out in the swamp which has been discovered and is under the glare of spotlights ….....
Whereas the original, although technically brilliant, is a sculpture on show in a gallery ….....
More power to your imagination Mel !!!!!!! ............ :))

Nice piece of work, those hands are very eyecatching & they are a standout giving a lead to great depth.I reckon the lightspots are great as well

Robyn Lakeman
Love both the images Mel, you have the most amazing eye and see things differentlly xox
Geoff Coleman...
The way you use selective focus and dof is inspired I think Mel. So much of the power of this shot comes through the sharpness of that outstretched hand versus the distortion of the face.
Geoff Coleman...
I think your use of selective focus and dof is inspired Mel. Brilliantly evocative this.
Felix Treadwell

This is amazing!!! I love your treatment you added, rough and rugged, and the contrast from that to your original is so different – soft, smooth and very shiny! I love both versions, they are fantastic! :-)
