Rous River
This is two of the three auto exposure bracketted shots merged in photomatix. The boat moved too much in the longer exposure for that one to be useable.
The Rous River is a tributary of the Tweed, and is basically surrounded by cane farms and mountains. We’re in the middle of one of the largest calderas in the world, I believe….a monster volcano from even before I was born!
Canon 5D, 16-35mm at 16mm, f/10, 1/60”, ISO 50, tripod on a moving boat…
Rous River belongs to the following groups:

Craig Maguire
Gorgeous as always Mel, love the lack of colour in this, works really well.
:)
Tom Gomez
Wonderful view.
You should have a look at Dynamic-Photo HDR. It lets you manually move the three shots around and pin overlaps together. It can adjust for movement including pitch and yawl.
Mel Brackstone replied
Thanks Tom, I have that program too….didn’t think to try it!
Mel Brackstone replied
Hi again Tom. The longer exposure had too much motion blur, it’s no use for this exercise, even with Dynamic-PhotoHDR
Nikki Mulkern

oh wow wonderful reflections. brilliant piece of HDR, even without the high exposure one.
You ever tried using RAW so that you can get a pseudo-high exposure shot? Not real but it comes close.
Awesome all the same!
Mel Brackstone replied
I did shoot this in Raw, but I liked the result from the blended two, rather than the false HDR version. Thanks, Jonathan :)
Karin Taylor

Lovely clouds and reflections Mel. There is a real sense of atmosphere in this one. The greens are alive under that magnificent sky and the water looks almost looks like a giant mirror laid down.

Looks ok? Methinks you are too modest! This is a stunning shot. If you tried to ‘select’ the greens in Photoshop, you wouldn’t get such a nice effect as this. Great work
