The Great Space Race
Some would have said that theirs was a strange friendship – perhaps it was – it was certainly uncommon. Beanie met Trixie the crow when she was just a kitten. Originally she had intended making a meal of Trixie, but changed her mind as she watched the crow take to the air.
Something stirred deep inside Beanie that day, something that would change her life forever. This is where her dreams of flight began. Needless to say all the others cats thought she was crazy. What cat in their right mind would want to fly?
Beanie knew she had landed on her feet. And so, with her family (who would support her dreams no matter how crazy they appeared) and with Trixie’s encouragement from above, Beanie achieved flight. They where short bursts to start, but over time Beanie learnt to ride the air currents on her paper plane as if it was second nature. Beanie and Trixie spent so much time chasing each other through the sky they became sister of a sort and easily shrugged off the stares of others. Then came a day Trixie told Beanie of a Race. It was a race that all lovers of flight wanted to win, the prize was three wishes granted and the competition was cut throat. Beanie just knew together they could win and they needed to start training now, for “The Great Space Race”.
