Sacred Tree
In the Shinto religion of Japan, nature is sacred. To be in contact with nature is to be close to the gods, and natural objects are worshipped as sacred spirits, or kami.
Beautiful origami shapes are often seen around Shinto shrines and especially on trees in Shinto Shrines. Out of respect for the tree spirit that gave its life to make the paper, origami paper is never cut. Hempen rope surrounds the tree and holds the origami in place.

Inspiring – reminds me of the Balinese who regard many huge trees as sacred, and place jing-yang black-an-white cheque aprons around them. Keith
