Artist's Description

Hedge Apple is the slang name for this Osage Orange! In days gone bye, farmers used hedges of Osage Orange Trees to keep livestock in captivity. It’s dense and strong wood properties coupled with tenacious thorns kept property borders impassible. When barbed wire was invented, the hedge fence began to disapear. They can still be found today scattered about the country side in the midwest at least.
