She smiled gently at Warren thinking to herself how happy she was to have made it here just in time. He knew he was lucky that she had come.
She had been waiting for this moment for two years. Every lie has been worth it, she had stolen thousands from his account and invested it already- him being too sick to notice, now in a matter of minutes she would get everything he had. She just had to wait for him to die.
The will had been drawn up and he assured her everything was in place as it should be. He was a good man and would provide for “the love of his life”. She had been so careful about keeping up the act. She only had to compete with his son for the money.
Over the last three weeks it had become an amazing race of endurance and acting between the two of them; doting on Warren, spending countless hours convincing him that they loved him the most. It was necessary to be the first one in the emergency room, to be the most “loving” so she had ensured he would be unable to get his car to start. She had won the race.
A few moments later two uniformed police entered the hospital room and stood in the corner, Warren motioning for them to stay put. Caught off guard by their appearance Candice asked what they were doing there. “Honey you know that my death will be big news, I am just insuring you are protected from the media”.
With a few muted breathes Warren’s heart began to labour and the machine with its green line began to beep and flash frantically. Doctors rushed in, pushing Candice aside and within seconds pronounced him dead. Candice ran from the room “distraught” but laughing inside.
After a few seconds “Warren” sat up and directed the constables to pursue Candice. “Now she must think I am dead, she is not to know I was undercover okay boys. We have enough evidence to pursue her for stealing money. Take her down”.
