One More Hour

“One more hour”

The green car left her sight
And emptiness filled her belly
Something for her to eat for the days
She would not see food

In her vague awareness
She feels ice sliding down her vein
And her vision becomes a mere blur
Until she feels the clouds catch her

And the wind carries her
And the branches of the nearby tree
Grab at her legs, scratching at her mind
Until she see’s the puddle in which she sits

And the pain lives again
In her every movement she is in desperate need.
The urge to cure her want
Is greater than the urge to cure her pain

And so she searches every place
Every park and house
For a man to take her and tell her she is safe
Because he will bring the danger to her

No longer will she seek it
For that one hour she is at home
And her Mum is cooking a broth
And a warm mattress is waiting for her

But still in her confusion she awakes to nothing
But cold fear of the known
As the unknown is not a fright anymore
And she realises to not realise

That death is not at her door
But it is in her heart
And she is one home away from seeing it
In the flesh, as it takes hers

And the green car appears in front of her now
And she enters to see a man with no eyes
For he has no soul, to take her home
For one more hour
