Japanese Friendship Garden - Ro Ho En by

Located in the heart of Phoenix, Arizona, the Japanese Friendship Garden is a beautiful garden oasis that makes you feel as if you’ve been magically transported to Japan.

As you stroll down the path that encircles this beautiful koi pond, your senses will run wild with the sounds of water and the wonderful scents from the many flowering bushes and trees. You’ll quickly forget that you’re in a bustling, fast-paced city in the middle of a desert.

The name Ro Ho En is a combination of three Japanese words. Ro which means Heron, a bird symbol of Himeji City. Shira Sagi Jou, or the White Heron, is a 300-year-old medieval castle in Himeji. Ho is the Japanese word for the city of Phoenix. En simply means garden.

The Japanese Friendship Garden is a joint project of the cities of Phoenix and Himeji, Japan.

Just a housewife with a camera and a mission; to photograph the beauty of the world we live in. Armed with my trusty camera, I search for beautiful compositions and interesting shots. You never know what I’ll find from day to day but if it catches my eye I’ll capture it forever.

Thank you for stopping by and viewing my work.
