Fear of Flying
I’m always in a plane, heading to France…and the plane goes down….
this was really cool- i got a text last night from a new friend who was inspired to write this poem upon seeing this painting… please give it a read through!!!! 8-22-08 i’ll have the link to his blog up soon!!!
Because I Had To

The lip of the edge
Of eternity
Enticement to my soul
And I fall in
No fear of flying
Can stop my descent
As I dive
Into the split horizons before me
The atmospheres that separate
Transparent
And Translucent
Blur my inner eye
I am here
Because I had to be
An impulse so powerful
I could not resist
Or deny
The color draws me in
Draws me
My chest tightens
As my velocity doubles
The horizon approaches
An endless distance
Toward the abyss
My breath it seems
Is thinning
My words
May well be failing
I close my eyes and surrender
Because I have to

oil..let is set for 2 weeks or so (very thin coat), acrylics, and pigment dust. I also brought up the levels a bit in PI. I’m going to rework it a bit in real life…It came out darker than I wanted. So I have to let it dry another 4 or 5 days and try again. But I like this!!!! Oh- on gesso art board.

I like this too, I just painted over a canvass very similar to this, I was running out and now looking at yours I miss it now :(

I do that ALL the time. Now I make sure I take pics along the way, just in case I get the urge to paint over it (which happens often). No worries, you’re such a gifted artist! Something grander was meant to be revealed!!

Often have dreams of falling. Really still scared of heights and yes do believe that it relates to me surrendering control. Very thought provoking piece.

thanks Tony… funny thing is, i’m a roller coaster fanatic. just planes… and mostly the recurring dream of flying to Paris. odd….
