Winter

Winter

Recent heavy snow in the Brecon Beacons brought endless opportunities for pictures – here’s one of mine which I hope you like.
I’ve deliberately disobeyed the thirds rule here as placing the tree in the centre made it look as if it was the pinnacle of all the shadows created by the trees behind me – the ten second timer gave me an opportunity to get my shadow out of the picture.
A circular polariser accentuated the blue in the sky and left me with very little work to do in photoshop beyond tweaking the levels to deepen the shadows slightly.

Rule? There are rules??? I say know the rules and then break the hell out of them.
The shadows rolling over the snow and the cloud hiding behind the tree….pretty damn cool dude!!

  • David Meacham replied

Cheers Von – it was such a beautiful day I couldn’t sit still in the house. Rules – sometimes they work sometimes they don’t and most of the time just say to hell with them.

Lovely! Nice touch with the moon in there as well.

  • David Meacham replied

Thanks Matt – it was a wonderful day with the moon and the clear sky – trouble with the moon is it never looks as big in pictures as it does to the naked eye

Thats beautiful Meach. Thirds were well left ignored in this shot – the perspective is brilliant here. You have captured the essence of the Welsh countryside with this. The shadows are perfect, and you even got the moon in there – Awesome work.

  • David Meacham replied

Thanks Jules – hope you’ve recovered from your birthday!
    Take care

You’re right mate – not much to right home about for the England team really, I reckon Italy could have won that game if they’d had decent half backs.

Oh you broke the rules? Shame. haha. Throw the rules out. This is an amazing shot. It wouldn’t look good stuck in the thirds rules anyway. Love it.
