Leave the Light On

recently written/recorded song—-forgot the chords and unfortunately its my favorite tune that I’ve written…sad sad, either way at least I have it recorded on my music page (see my profile for the link)

Well,
I don’t know just where you’ve been,
but I’ve been there a hundred times.
It’s dark and grim and too much like home
it’s the same place every time.

When you came back,
back from where you’d been
I felt vindicated,
but you were a different man
and I, don’t know just which is worse
to lay down and die
or go out in a hearse.

Where were you when I went away?
Where were you when I needed to stay?
This ain’t the movies or TV
so you better fuckin’ think before you
fuck with me.

I stand tall and I stand proud-
been that way all my life.
Still as the stone and calm as the sea
I always see the light.
But when the sun broke in the west
I knew my world was ending
at best.
So,
I hung my head down towards the sky
I prayed to hell this was just a pretty lie.

You can’t blame me for what you did.
I may have been wrong,
but I was just a stupid kid.
It doesn’t matter what else you say
but I hope you can feel me dancing on your grave.

Where were you when I went away?
Where were you when I needed to stay.
It looks so pretty on TV
at least until you meet someone
like me.
