Required Calm

After the storm the air was lighter.
It was easier to breathe
as if the water had washed away the stagnation
compiling and devouring my soul.
The inorganic compound
had reminded me of humanity
with all their desperation
and unquestioned answers.

After the storm the sun shown brighter.
It was easier to see
as if the lightning had blinded the darkness
compiling and devouring my soul.
The electronic spark in the atmosphere
inadvertantly set off a hell’s fire
with a fury so intent,
I intended to disappear.

After the storm the reflection I found was different.
It was no longer me
as if the thunder had frightened away the former self
compiling and devouring my soul.
The bangboomrah of the cloud’s drumming
miscalculated the decibalic level
with which they roared
and in evolution I echoed my response.
