"Was Blind But Now I See" (A Tribute to Rosalind (Rose) Franklin) by

Oil and Acrylic on Canvas with addition of printed matter
12 × 12 inches
A tribute to the British biologist Rosalind Franklin, and her discovery of DNA. Her discovery was the single most important advance of modern biology and it changed the future of healthcare forever. Unfortunately Rosalind Franklin did not get the credit she deserved in her lifetime. In her honor the “Roses” still bloom in the garden she planted.

yeah I 2nd what Tori said lol. Again you have a unique way of framing the central character, fabulous, I love the layers – how the leaves overlap the snake – oh and the skin and eyes are sublime!

  • Thanks Julia, I do find detail a real cathartic…

    The eyes are so real!!!

  • They are just oil on canvas, I did make sure that area was a very smooth surface, before painting. Much of my work is very textural and it would not have worked otherwise. Also, it was important to me as “Rosalind” made the first “visual” discovery of DNA through x-rays, isn’t that awesome!?!! Too bad she never got the recognition she deserved…
