Summer’s Death
Summer dies here in the North East as Autumn takes its firm hold

As winds of change descend from a northern source
A chilly hand so grabs the throat of all the trees
Almost pulling the life from their roots with a force
The evening darkness descends earlier these days
As mornings, too, are ensnared in its blanket of shade
For the sun sleeps longer and awakens slower now
Tired from the summer and the heat that it made
So now, the reds and auburns are taking their stage
Alive in the lives of nature as it so well changes
Dead, are the greens and yellows of summer’s breath
As autumn enters in and life rearranges

Well written, a beautiful piece about my favorite season of the year.
